A River Runs Through It (1992)
Starring Brad Pitt, this film is credited with spurring a wave of excitement and
enthusiasm for fly fishing that has never since dwindled. The story focuses on two
brothers growing up in Montana who become separated and reunite and reconcile on
the river.
Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011)
Ewan McGregor stars are an expert in fisheries who helps to bring the sport of fly-
fishing to the desert in a tale of passion and perseverance. The film was nominated for
three Golden Globe Awards including Best Picture.
Perfect Storm (2000)
Based on a true story, this movie tells of an intense storm that rocked the North Atlantic
waters in 1991 and stars George Clooney and Mark Walberg. A commercial fishing boat
seeking swordfish is caught in the storm and they are less than prepared for what
they have to face.

Two best friends, played by Joe Pesci and Danny Glover, win a free fishing trip and a
series of mishaps disrupt their plans. Turns out this free angling adventure ends up
costing them a thing or two.

Based on Ernest Hemingway's legendary tale of tenacity and triumph, this film stars
Spencer Tracy in a commanding role. He is the old man who, after a long spell of bad
luck, hooks a monster fish that pushes him to his limits, mentally and physically.
