The Yucatan Knot is a great knot to have in your arsenal. According to the Youtube user it was “originally developed in the sport fishing waters off Isla Mujeres and Cancun.” Check out this instructional video below to learn how it’s properly tied.
In case you missed anything, here are the step by step instructions below:
1.) Hold the end of each line in each hand
2.) Take the line in your right hand and fold it on itself making a loop
3.) Pinch the end of the loop in your right hand and use your left hand to twist the loop around the other line
4.) Twist about six times
5.) Then take the tag end of the loop of the line in your left hand and thread it through the top of the loop
6.) Pull all the lines tight including the tag ends
7.) Trim the tag ends
Now you have another great knot to try next time you’re out on the water. Let us know how the Yucatan knot performs for you.
