For 25 years Casting for Recovery (CfR) and Orvis have been providing fly fishing retreats to empower women with breast cancer. Founded in 1996 in Manchester, VT, CfR started with one retreat and a small group of engineers with Orvis as its first sponsor. According to the Orvis website, “The idea was simple; provide women with the opportunity to escape all that a breast cancer diagnosis brings by giving them a safe space to connect with each other and nature.” Since then Orvis has been a great partner to the cause providing gear and financial support. To date Orvis has given $400,000 and helped seve 10,000 women.
