Angler Todd Spangler caught a speckled trout in the Neuse River of Pamlico County, NC and broke a 60-year-old state record. The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries certified the 12-pound 6-ounce fish which measured 33.5-inches-long with a girth of 19 inches on February 9th.
Spangler brought the fish to Neuse River Bait and Tackle which had certified scales after what he said was an otherwise slow day on the water.
This breaks the record set in 1961 by a fish caught off Wrightsville Beach that weighed 12-pounds and 4-ounces.
