They say the best things in life are free, and one of the best things happening in Alabama on June 11th is Free Fishing Day. On this day both residents and visitors to Alabama can fish without purchasing a license on most waterways in the state.
Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Chris Blankenship, said it’s the perfect opportunity for families and those who may not normally go fishing to get outside and enjoy time together. He told reporters, “Itβs also a day for kids to learn how fun and exciting fishing is. While giving families a chance to do something together outdoors.”
Most public waters will be accessible without a license on June 11th, but some places like State Public Fishing Lakes will still require a permit. This also applies to privately owned ponds, so be sure to check with owners before dropping a line in the water.
