In an unsettling incident, a local HOA president allegedly threatened and harassed children enjoying a fishing trip. According to court documents, 57-year-old Kyle Tate, president of the HOA board at Stillwater Lakes, confronted three kids fishing at the community lake on April 14th.
The report details how Mr. Tate approached the youngsters while brandishing a firearm, demanding they leave “his property.” However, authorities confirmed the lake belongs to the HOA, not Mr. Tate personally.
Despite this clarification, Mr. Tate reportedly confiscated the kids’ fishing equipment, including rods, reels, tackle boxes, and cast nets, before throwing them into the woods, causing damage. The stolen equipment was valued at approximately $2,200.
One of the children also reported a stolen phone valued at $1,500, which hasn’t been recovered.
Thankfully, the Palm Bay Police Department intervened and arrested Mr. Tate. He now faces felony charges of grand theft and criminal mischief.
This alarming incident serves as a reminder of responsible behavior expected from community leaders.
