Pending State Record Blue Line Tilefish in Maryland

A recent fishing trip near Ocean City, Maryland, led to an exciting discovery—what may be a new state record for blueline tilefish. Kristen and the crew set out on the water, enjoying a day of fishing and watching the OC Air Show. Although the tog and sheepshead weren’t biting, Kristen did manage to catch some blowfish using Deadly Tackle Hi-Lo Rigs.

Later in the day, Shaun, a crew member of the Talkin’ Trash with Captain Chris Little, called to report a potentially record-breaking catch. After coordinating with the Department of Natural Resources and the team at Crabs to Go, the massive blueline tilefish was officially weighed and measured. The fish came in at 37.25 inches long and 20.6 pounds, surpassing the previous state record of 20 pounds. Angler London Anthony made the catch using chunk bait.

The record is pending official approval, but congratulations are already in order for London and the Talkin’ Trash crew.

In other fishing news, Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported mixed results, with some anglers landing sea bass and flounder. Meanwhile, Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star enjoyed beautiful conditions and a good haul of mahi and sea bass.
