Ian Keinath, a seasoned angler, achieved a lifelong dream on September 11, 2024, when he caught a record-breaking blue marlin off the coast of Kona, Hawaii. The fish, weighing in at 106.8 pounds, surpassed the previous record of 104.2 pounds set in 2007.
Keinath, who had been pursuing this goal for 16 years, teamed up with a skilled crew aboard the boat “Last Chance.” The intense battle lasted over three hours, testing the angler’s endurance and the gear’s durability.
The record is currently pending official confirmation by the International Game Fish Association (IGFA). If approved, it will solidify Keinath’s place in fishing history. As he and his team celebrate this remarkable achievement, they are already looking ahead to their next fishing adventure, fueled by their recent success.
