Ohio Angler Sets New Record with Massive White Crappie Catch

An angler from Ottawa, Ohio, has broken a long-standing state record for the largest White Crappie caught in nearly three decades.

Teresa Croy, who caught the impressive fish on November 2, 2024, at a pond within the Glandorf Rod and Gun Club in Putnam County, reeled in a catch measuring 18.5 inches in length and weighing 3.91 pounds.

The Ohio Division of Wildlife confirmed that this catch surpasses the previous record set by Kyle Rock of Zanesville on April 25, 1995. Although both fish measured the same length of 18.5 inches, Croy’s catch outweighed Rock’s by a mere 0.01 pounds.

In Ohio, record-breaking fish are judged by weight and verified by the Outdoor Writers of Ohio State Record Fish Committee, with support from Ohio Division of Wildlife fishery biologists. Croy’s remarkable achievement is a testament to the vibrant fishing culture in the state and marks a historic moment for anglers throughout the region.
