11-Year-Old Sets Arkansas State Record for White Sucker
An 11-year-old angler’s patience paid off when he caught a record-breaking white sucker while trout fishing with his father at Bull Shoals Dam. Daniel Bridgmon’s catch weighed 1 pound 15 ounces and has been confirmed as the first state record for the species in Arkansas.

The fish was caught on June 14 using a nightcrawler on the bottom, and it put up a solid fight before being landed. After verifying the species and weight with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Daniel’s catch was officially recognized as a state record.
The Catch:
- Species: White sucker
- Weight: 1 pound 15 ounces
- Location: Bull Shoals Dam
- Bait: Nightcrawler
