A 13-year-old angler from California may have just reeled in a world record-breaking catch. Julian Her caught a massive 63-pound white sea bass in Tomales Bay while fishing with his family. The impressive catch has sparked excitement among fishing enthusiasts, and the International Game Fish Association is currently reviewing Julian’s application for a potential juvenile world record.
A Beast of a Fish

Julian described the experience of reeling in the giant fish as “amazing” and said his arms were hurting from the struggle. With the help of his uncle, Julian was able to land the fish and capture the moment on camera. The video shows the enormous size of the white sea bass, which is almost as big as Julian himself.
A Potential Record-Breaker
According to KMAX’s research, the previous record for a white sea bass was set in 2002 at 59 pounds. Julian’s catch surpasses this record, and the International Game Fish Association is currently reviewing his application. Regardless of the outcome, Julian’s family is thrilled with the experience and the memories they’ve made.
A Love for Fishing
Julian’s father, Rinna Her, said that the goal of the fishing trip was to have fun and make memories with his son. Julian has already developed a passion for fishing, and this experience has only strengthened his love for the sport. “He already loved fishing, but he’s going to be a fisherman for life now,” Her said.
Waiting for the Verdict
The International Game Fish Association will review Julian’s application and determine whether his catch meets the criteria for a juvenile world record. Until then, Julian and his family will have to wait and see if they’ll be recognized for this incredible achievement.
