Recently, a 100-pound sailfish leapt out of the water and impaled a 73-year-old woman on a fishing boat. The woman was visiting from Maryland and was with two others when the incident occurred two miles offshore in Stuart, FL.
Anglers were attempting to reel in the massive sailfish when suddenly it charged the boat. It then leapt out of the water and stabbed the woman in the groin area as she stood by the center console of the boat.
The others on the boat quickly put pressure on the wound and she was flown to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital for treatment.
