Kansas Angler Lands World-Record Paddlefish

Chad Williams of Olathe made headlines with his extraordinary catch during the opening of paddlefish snagging season at the Lake of the Ozarks. According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, Williams reeled in a massive 164-pound, 13-ounce paddlefish on Sunday, March 17, shattering both the state and world records.

Reflecting on his remarkable feat, Williams expressed his disbelief at his newfound success. “I was lucky enough to get invited to go out snagging with friends,” Williams said. “I’d never been snagging before. Never seen a paddlefish — didn’t even know what it was!”

Despite initial doubts about his strength, Williams managed to pull in the record-breaking catch. “I’m honestly still processing this whole thing,” he added.
